ISACA Greater Washington DC Chapter Scholarship 

 

Continue your education and launch your IT career with ISACA! This scholarship is open to students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree related to cybersecurity or IT audit at George Mason University, Howard University, Marymount University, or University of Maryland Global Campus. Please review the scholarship offering and criteria below, and apply today!

Scholarship Offering:

We will award a US$3,000 academic scholarship for tuition to three students who meet the criteria below. Scholarship money will be disbursed to the awardee's school in two payments: first half end of January 2025 and second half end of October 2025. Scholarship money must be used for the school you’re attending in 2025.

Awardees will also receive a Career Building Bundle:

  • One year of ISACA and ISACA chapter Student Membership (giving you access to career pathway and advancement events and webinars)
  • One ISACA course selected from the ITCA  or CET certification (completion of this course will help you get an ISACA certification that indicates a standard of skills to a prospective employer)
  • One ISACA Virtual Conference registration (where you will benefit from speakers who are renowned experts in their fields)
  • ISACA’s Mentoring Program (giving you access to certified digital trust professionals as mentors)
  • Resources to start an ISACA Student Group at university/college (as applicable)
  • Access to additional ISACA and Foundation resources

Criteria:

Applicants must:

  1. To apply, you first need a free ISACA account. If you have appplied for an ISACA Foundation scholarship before, you may sign in using that account. 
  2. Be 18 years of age or older.
  3. Be enrolled in George Mason University, Howard University, Marymount University, or University of Maryland Global Campus.
  4. Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree related to cybersecurity or IT audit.
  5. Recipients at George Mason University and Marymount University School agree to pursue ISACA Student Group leadership and be heavily involved in the organization's operations and planning for at least two semesters. 
  6. Recipient at Howard University or University of Maryland Global Campus agree to work with the ISACA Foundation and chapter to start an ISACA Student Group at their school in 2025.
  7. Recipients agree to attend at least one chapter event within 3 months of receiving the award.
  8. Recipients agree to attend four chapter events in 2025 (onboarding, in-person annual general meeting, mentorship, and university event).
  9. Identify as a member of an underrepresented community in IT (this may include race, gender, ethnicity, veteran status, disability, etc.)
  10. Agree to communicate with the ISACA Foundation twice a year for two years regarding school and career trajectory after the scholarship award.
